    We pray in thanksgiving for the life of Sister Joanne Deck, RSM, who died July 19, 2023, in Erie, Pennsylvania. A Sister of Mercy for 57 years, she was 75 years old.

    The funeral Mass for Sisters Arlene Semesky and Joanne Deck will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10:00 a.m., at Mercy Center Chapel, in Rochester, New York. Prior to the funeral Mass, the chapel will be open for visitation, beginning at 9:15 a.m.

    Rochester Bishop Salvatore Matano will preside at the funeral liturgy. Father Tim Niven, Pastor of St. Rita Catholic Church, will concelebrate and preach. Sisters Arlene and Joanne lived at the St. Rita Community, a convent at St. Rita Catholic Church in Webster, New York.

    Joanne’s burial will take place immediately following the funeral liturgy at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Arlene’s burial will take place Monday, Aug. 7, in her family’s plot at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Elmira, New York.

    We pray in thanksgiving for the life of Sister Mary Anne O’Brien, RSM, who died August 2, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri. A Sister of Mercy for 71 years, she was 90 years old.

    Funeral services will be at Catherine’s Residence Chapel in St. Louis as follows.

    10 a.m.: Sharing of Memories and Funeral Mass
    Burial at Vicksburg Cemetery (date and time to be determined)
